Mary and Ernest stayed at the Grand Hotel Roi René which was a favorite of Winston Churchill. They strolled along Cours Mirabeau, stopping to watch the fountain at the head of the Cours and they had drinks at La Rotonde.  Large sections of Hemingway’s Widow were written in Aix-en-Provence and it was fun to re-visit the Hotel Roi René where some of the story is set.
